The recent passage of Barrister Margaret Onyema-Orakwusi, a maritime icon and versatile trawler merchant has been described as an irreplaceable loss and uncoverable vacuum for the nation’s water transport sub-sector.

This was as released in a press statement made available and signed by the Interim Secretary-General of the Nigeria Maritime Academies Forum, Dr. Musa Adesina Godsend AKINYEMI in Lagos at the weekend.

Quoting from the different sources where the Barrister had made impacts and from the references of earlier sympathizers, Dr. Musa AKINYEMI regretted the sudden and untimely passage of a rare trawler merchant merchant whose voice NIMASA would find unbearable to lose and the Nigeria Maritime Academies Forum as well as the Association of Licensed Maritime Academies of Nigeria (ALMAN) could NOT believe was real.

Present for the release of the Press Statement was Dr. Reuben Ovai, National President of ALMAN as well as Mr.Basil Opara, a national maritime consultant.

As one of the major employers of our cadets and graduands produced by our Forum and ALMAN, Dr. Akinyemi extends the condolences of the Forum to the immediate family, friends, colleagues and close community of the dearly-missed, praying God will in His infinite mercies grant eternal, perfect peace.
