Sambo to Visit CRFFN Office, Inspect Controversial Lekki Office
By Francis Ugwoke
The Minister Of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo is expected this morning to visit the Lagos Headoffice of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
Sambo is also billed to visit the controversial Lekki Office which the Council wants to use as Headoffice.
The Council is using the Ministry of Transport Annex office in Lagos until it finds a headoffice.
The Governing Board of the Council had kicked against the Lekki office as not good enough for the CRFFN.
The board members complained that the new office which is yet to be paid for is too far from operational areas of members.
Incidentally, the same board members are pushing that the CRFFN headoffice should be moved back to Abuja, a call that has been criticized by industry stakeholders.
Sources close to the Council had hinted that the board and the management team of the Council are not in the best of relationship over unresolved issues.
The board members claim that the N800m office is hardly worth N300m.
Based on this allegation, the Minister had earlier ordered that the payment for the office should be halted until the matter is resolved.
