Shipping World to Honour Tompolo with Award

The Maritime Media Limited, publishers of Shipping World is to honour the Chief Executive Officer, TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, otherwise popularly known as Tompolo with an award.
Ekpemupolo is to be honoured with MARITIME MAN OF THE YEAR award, according to a letter signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Maritime Media Limited, Elder Asu Beks.
Part of the letter to Tompolo reads, “It is with great pleasure that the Advisory Board of the first and longest running maritime industry corporate governance award in Nigeria, wishes to notify you of your nomination and emergence as MARITIME MAN OF THE YEAR in the annual Maritime Industry Merit Award (MIMA) organised by Maritime Media Limited”.
Beks said that the annual “Maritime Industry Merit Award, which enters its 25th edition this year, was borne out of the increasing necessity to acknowledge and reward the genuine efforts of Nigerians as strategic and indispensable stakeholders facilitating growth and development of the country’s maritime industry”.
He added, “MIMA primarily focuses on individuals and corporate bodies whose activities have had a significant and measurable impact on Maritime Infrastructure Development; Human Capital; Security; as well as opportunities aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s vast maritime resources.
“Based on these premises, we have followed with sincere interest, your exemplary and uncommon leadership as Chief Executive Officer of TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES NIGERIA LTD and GLOBAL WEST VESSELS NIGERIA LTD , where you have set a new standard for private sector participation in maritime , oil and gas assets integrity and security.
“Over the years, you have entrenched yourself as a reliable and resourceful maritime stakeholder with significant interests and investment in maritime security, marine platforms, capacity development and a commitment to the de-escalation of agitation and militancy in the Niger Delta.
“Leveraging your various interests, you have provided thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled hardworking Nigerians to thrive in, thereby contributing in no small measure to the country’s overall productivity and Per Capita Income index.
“Recently, your organisation received the Federal Government’s mandate to provide crude oil and petroleum products pipeline-surveillance services due to Nigeria’s inability to meet her daily OPEC production quota as a result of oil theft. The contract, which is an endorsement of your organisation’s track-record in the provision of maritime and oil and gas surveillance and security services, is already yielding results with the uncovering of illegal refineries, and conduit pipelines across the region.
“Furthermore sir, you have displayed unreserved philanthropy through ‘The Tompolo Foundation’ to provide humanitarian services to the people of the Niger Delta. These include free medical services, food, provision of educational materials, provision of relief materials for the victims of natural disasters, educational sponsorships and many more. Your emphasis on the need to protect, defend and promote the wellbeing and interests of inhabitants of coastal communities is worthy of acknowledgement and emulation.

The event is scheduled to hold in January 2023 at Oriental Hotel ,Victoria Island, Lagos.
The ceremony is to be presided over by His Excellency Sen Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State as Chairman and Engr Muazu Jaji Sambo, the Hon Minister of Transportation as Special Guest of Honour, while Major General Barry Tariye Ndiomu (retd) , Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Program ,will deliver keynote address at the investiture.
