Abuja Airport Cargo Terminal to be Commissioned Soon, Says Minister
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika on Tuesday said the cargo terminal project at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, is ready and will soon be commissioned.
Sirika said the cargo terminal is close to being completed, adding that it will be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister who appeared before members of the House Committee on Aviation for the 2023 budget defence also said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was through with its investigation into the second Abuja airport cargo terminal project which was abandoned by contractors.
The contract was abandoned after the firm had received 75 per cent funding of the project.
Sirika said the EFCC will be prosecuting the contractor for abandoning the project.
The Minister also said the Nigerian national air carrier is expected to take off before the end of this year, adding that the airline will start with boing 737 for domestic operations and later plan for international operations.
