Gbemisola Saraki Tours Ports, Supports Infrastructure Overhaul at Tin Can Port
The Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki on Monday started a tour of the Lagos ports during which she gave her support for ports infrastructure overhaul at the Tin Can Island port.
It would be recalled that the NPA Managing Director, Mohammed Bello Koko had recently told newsmen that the authority was planning reconstruction of the Quay walls of the TinCan Island Port Complex.
Bello Koko said this was because the walls have become weak.
Senator Saraki during her tour said she was in full support of the reconstruction of the quay walls.
She was quoted to have said in a statement, “We cannot build on a weak foundation, it is vital that we get these two very important ports modernised and ready to berth modern vessels. The state of the ports show decades of neglect but it’s better late than never.”
Saraki is billed to continue her tour of other ports agencies and facilities today.
