The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh has announced his withdrawal from the Kaduna governorship race.
In a post by his Media Team led by Saminu Madaki, the reason for withdrawing from the race was personal.
Part of the statement reads, “Today the 15th May, 2022 our principal Dr. Bashir Jamoh held a meeting with his campaign council and other top officials in the movement. Then he officially announced that he personally stepped down for the Governorship race in Kaduna state due to some personal reasons which is for his own good and the entire people of Kaduna state”.
Jamoh was reported to have appealed to his supporters to be law abiding, adding that all he needed was “their efforts and prayers from the time he showed interest to contest for the Governorship, the time he officially declared his intention to contest and till today when he moved out of the race for his own good and the people of Kaduna state”.
The DG promised to “carry people along and also continue with all the co-operate social responsibility he has started to help the good people of Kaduna state even though he is not contesting for 2023 but he is doing it because of Allah”.
Jamoh had announced his Kaduna governorship interest early this year.
He was reported to have purchased the form for the governorship before his latest withdrawal.
It would be recalled that the federal government had issued a directive asking all political appointees interest in elective positions to resign on before Monday, May 16.
