2023 Guber Race: Jamoh Moves to Take Over from el-Rufai
By Francis Ugwoke
After series of what could be described as secret moves, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has come out openly to announce his resolve to contest the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna.
Jamoh has been speculated as having an eye on the seat of Governor Nasir el-Rufai when he completes his tenure next year.
He has been paying regular visits to the state and seen in some quarters as having a big ‘romance’ with el-Rufai in what would suggest a strong backing from the governor.
Sources close to key stakeholders in Kaduna politics said Jamoh is being assumed as the next governor of Kaduna State considering his strong tie with the present administration in the state.
The source said el-Rufai sees Jamoh as his candidate that must be delivered in 2023.
At a press conference last Friday, Jamoh could not hide his ambition when he confirmed his interest.
Before now, it was speculated that the suspended Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Hadiza Bala Usman was considering running for the governorship of the state.
Indications are that Miss Usman who is being speculated to be on her way back to her job may have decided on dropping from the race.
