The Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Hon. Emmanuel Jime has said that his plan is to make sure that his agency becomes the best regulatory agency in the next three years.
Jime promised to work with government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that the interest of indigenous shipping companies are protected.
Jime spoke when members of the Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN) paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He assured that as the Chairman of the Nigerian Fleet Implementation Committee (NFIC), he will be receptive of all ideas that will make Nigeria grow as a maritime nation.

The SOAN President, Mkgeorge Onyung who led members of his executive to NSC advised the Nigerian Fleet Implementation Committee on the need to collaborate with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to achieve the best for indigenous shipowners.
Onyung said he had observed that the NCDMB has already listed out the content of every contract of every operation that Nigerians must get involved in.
According to him, “And I want to point out that the NCDMB stipulates that in the movement and transportation of crude oil and other products, the Nigerian content requirement is 90%.
“What I mean is that we have a law that is subsisting in Nigeria that Nigerians must aspire to be able to transport crude oil and Nigerian petroleum products up to 90%. Now, any policy that tries to use a trade policy that is against the law will have to adjust itself. So, let us collaborate with this board and other agencies concerned to see how we can work together.”
