Shonekan, Former Head of Interim Govt, Dies at 85

Nigeria’s former Head of Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, is dead.
Shonekan who died in Lagos on Tuesday was born in May 9, 1936.
Former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida had handed over government to Shonekan after stepping aside following his annulment of the 1993 general election adjudged to have been won by late MKO Abiola.
Babangida had claimed he was under pressure not to declare Abiola winner of the election.
Shonekan’s administration was however sacked by former military head of state, late General Sani Abacha.
Shonekan was also the Chairman of the APM Terminals, Apapa, Board.
Shoneka who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, attended the CMS Grammar School and Igbobi College, Lagos.
He was a lawyer, industrialist. and former Chairman of UAC Plc.
