RORO Ferry with 350 Passengers, 97 Cars Run Aground
A passenger ro-ro ferry AMADEA ran aground on a coast of uninhabited island Kandang Lunik, Sunda Strait, Indonesia, at around 2210 Wednesday.
This was shortly after leaving Bakauheni port, eastern Sumatra, with 342 passengers and 97 cars on board.
The ferry is serving Bakauheni Sumatra – Merak Java line.
The cause was traced to strong wind and as at 1120 WIB Dec 30, the ferry was still aground, with at least 2 tugs assisting her.
All passengers remain on board. No hull breaches reported, so far.
