ICPC Revelation: House Probes 257 Duplicated Projects Valued N20bn
An Adhoc Committee of the House of Representatives has been set up to carry out investigation into the allegation by the Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) that 257 projects worth N20.138bn were duplicated in this year’s budget.
The allegation was against the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in their various projects.
The lawmakers had taken the decision to carry out the probe following a motion by Hon. Dachung Bagos, alleging high level corruption against MDAs.
Bagos recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had in November this year ordered the ICPC to take necessary action against the MDAs involved in project racketeering, budget and payroll padding, including ghost worker’s retention.
The Speaker of the House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, named Hon. Makki Yelleman as the Chairman of the adhoc committee.
Other members include Hon. Ganiyu Johnson, Hon. Francis Waive, Hon. Luke Akpan, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, Hon. Ahmed Jaha, Hon. Francis Agbo, Hon. Olododo Cook, Hon. Amos Magaji, Hon. Abdullahi Halims, Hon. Kabiru Idris, Hon. Aniekan Umanah and five others.
