Court Convicts 475 Drug Traffickers
No fewer than 475 drug traffickers taken to court by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) the for various offences have been convicted.
The traffickers were convicted between September and November this year at the Federal High Courts in the country/
In a statement, the spokesman of the NDLEA, Femi Babafem, said the figure was against 1000 traffickers that were jailed between January and November this year.
A breakdown by the agency showed that in September 73 persons were convicted with Jigawa having the highest convicts of 13, Adamawa – 14, Abuja – 11.
Jigawa was also the highest in the number of convictions in October with 14 convicts out of 150, Niger – 13; Katsina – 12 ; Taraba – 11 and Lagos – 11.
In November, Adamawa and Abia came top in conviction with 23 each out of a total of 252 convictions, Abuja – 21; Plateau – 14.
According to the statement, the Chairman of NDLEA, Buba Marwa, commended the efforts of the officers in the state commands for their performance.
He also commended the Directorate of Prosecution and Legal Services for the successes so far.
