Transport Minister Woos Greece to invest in Nigerian Shipping Industry
The Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday wooed Greek investors to consider investing in the Nigerian maritime industry.
Amaechi who spoke during a virtual 2021 Greek Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and Technology Investment and Trade Forum said Nigeria has a lot of opportunities for foreign investors in the maritime sector.
He said that this even moreso with the huge investment in maritime security the federal government.
According to the minister, the efforts of the government in security has improved safety on the nation’s waterways.
He also added that the government would continue to sustain such investment in security for peace to continue to reign.
The Minister added that the approval of new three seaports would boost transportation in the country.
He identified the new seaports as in Lekki, Onne and Warri , adding that the Lekki deep seaport would be inaugurated in December next year.
The Managing Director, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Emeka Offor, had during the occasion restated the commitment of his commission to see that investors overcome any challenges of investing in the country.
Offor said the federal government has always demonstrated readiness to address challenges being faced by investors.
