Pirates Attack Fishermen, Seize Outboard Engines at Akwa Ibom

No fewer than 25 fishermen have been left stranded after they were attacked on the high Sea off the coast of Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom by pirates.
The pirates had seized their outboard engines leaving them stranded on the high sea.
Spokesman for the fishermen, Oluwajuwon Ogunbiyi, disclosed this to newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday,
According to Ogunbiyi, the latest attack by the pirates was on Tuesday after the protest on other attacks.
He said that following the attack, the fishermen were stranded on the high sea as there was no rescue after the incident at about 7pm.
He said that the target of the pirates were the onboard engines which cost was put at N2.5million each.
Ogunbiyi said that constant attack was due to lack of sustained patrol by Naval operatives.
He however commended the State Police Command for coming to their rescue.
