NDLEA Nabs Fake Soldier with Drugs, ATM, SIM Cards for Bandits
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a suspected fake soldier and accomplice with illicit drugs and communication equipment in Kaduna.
The suspects identified as Hayatu Galadima and his accomplice Hamisu Adamu, were arrested on September 30 by the operatives of the NDLEA who were on patrol along Gwagwalada Expressway in Abuja.
They were said to be conveying the communication equipment which include sim cads and ATM card to bandits in Kaduna state.
In a statement by the spokesman of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, items discovered with the suspects include 21 RLA 7.45mm ammunition which were concealed in water bottles; 16 packs of new two-way radios (walkie-talkie), and four army head masks.
Other items were an army ID card; one USD, two FCMB, one First Bank, one Ecobank, one UBA, and one Skye Bank ATM cards; wraps of cannabis sativa; tablets of tramadol; three MTN, two 9mobile and one Airtel SIM cards.
Also recovered were one iPhone 12 Pro; one Samsung A31; one Nokia phone; seven NA pass letters; five handbags and one Bagco bag and a gallon of palm oil.
The fake soldier who claimed he is a Lance Corporal serving in Ibadan, Oyo State said they were taking the exhibits to Kaduna and Kano.
The statement said the suspects may have contact with the bandits who have been ex-communicated in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kaduna states.
