CRFFN Board Election: Committee Postpones Screening of Candidates Indefinitely
The screening of candidates for the election into the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has been postponed indefinitely.
By implication, it means that the election date which is October 9, 2021 may likely be affected.
Candidates who had gone for the screening on September 21 and 22 were all surprised that members of the Committee were nowhere to found in the Rockview Hotel. Apapa, the venue for the exercise.
An eye witness who is a member of the Comrade Edwin Chukwudire Obi, a Desk Officer of the CREFFPON, said most of the candidates who defiled the heavy downpour to be at the venue, after loitering around left the hotel premises disappointed, complaining of poor information dissemination process by the Electoral Committee.
It is being speculated that the postponement of the screening exercise may not be unconnected with the protest by freight forwarders associations who said it was without consultation with stakeholders.
“Information reaching the CREFFPON data collating, monitoring and intelligent group has it that, following the open memos and petitions that flooded the office of the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon . Rotimi Amaechi, after consultations with the top management team resolved to the indefinite postponement of the slated candidates screening exercise in lieu of the publicized CRFFN – Governing Council Election schedule for 21st & 22nd September, 2021”, Obi said in the statement..
