Tin Can Customs Takes Delivery of Two Scanners
The Tin Can Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the delivery of two scanners to the seaport.
The scanners were described in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Uche Ejesieme as NUCTECH Mobile Scanners MT1213DE with accessories.
The statement said the equipment arrived the port on board Glovis Horizon Leader from the Port of Shanghai, China.
The Area Controller, Comptroller Abdullahi Musa, the statement said took delivery of the consignment.
He was quoted saying, “Integration of scanning into the clearance procedure for imports was in line with global best practices for trade facilitation”.
Musa assured that the scanners would be deployed to save the time spent in physical examination of goods in the port.
He added that this will address multiple burdens and inconveniences which importers go through in respect of physical examination.
He commended the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), retired Col. Hameed Ali, and his management team for the scanners which according to him would add to greater efficiency in cargo handling operations.
The Onne Customs Command has also recently received similar consignment which is expected to improve on trade facilitation.
