Why We Ended Weekly Sit-at-Home Protest, by IPOD
*Fears security agents taking advantage to unleash terror on innocent citizens
Says Masari’s statement on self defense vindicates Nnamdi Kanu
The Indigenous People of Biafra has said that it will no longer embark on weekly sit-at-home protest carried out every Monday to avoid security agents attacking and killing innocent people and blaming it on the body.
In a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, weekend, the pro-Biafra group claimed it has uncovered a plot by some security agents to attack traders who come out for business and blame it on the group.
The statement said that the group had since two weeks ago taken a decision to suspend the weekly Monday protest.
According to the statement made available to newsmen, the group will only carry out the protest on the day that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is billed to appear in court.
According to the statement, “The intelligence unit of IPOB has uncovered secret plots by the Nigeria security agencies, most especially the DSS and the police to disguise as IPOB and ESN operatives to attack traders who come out tomorrow for their legitimate businesses.
“IPOB restates that there is no longer Ghost Mondays in Biafra land in solidarity with our detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Sit-at-home will only be observed on the days our leader will be making appearances in court. Such days will be well publicised ahead of time.
“Everybody is hereby placed on alert about this wicked plot. IPOB will not tolerate any attack on any Biafran or resident of Biafra under any guise.
“Security agencies have perfected plans to unleash attacks on innocent people in the name of ESN and IPOB volunteers. We have no plans again to enforce any sit-at-home order.
“We understand that all DPOs, DCOs other senior police officers in Enugu held meeting to perfect this plan to attack innocent Biafrans and tag it ESN attacks”.
Powerful had also in a statement on Saturday described the statement credited to the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, who called on citizens to take up arms to defend themselves in view of insecurity in the state.
He said the statement was a vindication of Kanu who had also advised Nigerians to acquire arms to defend themselves.
He also said the statement was a wake-up call on the governors of the East East who according to him do not understand the tactics and gimmicks used by Fulanis to conquer and Islamise Nigerians.
The statement said, “Our leader is the man who saw tomorrow; everything he said has fully happened.
“This is a clarion call on South-East governors, who do not understand the tactics and gimmicks, which Fulani are playing in their desperation to conquer and Islamise indigenous people living in Nigeria.”
However, the Enugu State Police Command spokesman in reaction to the statement from IPOD that it had ended its Monday sit-at-home protest to avoid security operatives taking advantage to kill innocent people as an imagination targeted at tarnishing the image of the Police.
He maintained that the Police in Enugu was committed to securing lives and property.
