We Need $2.3tn to Address Infrastructure Deficit – FG
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Thursday said that the federal government needs as much as $2.3tn to be able to address the nation’s infrastructure masterplan.
Mustapha who spoke at a town hall meeting in Abuja on ‘Nigeria’s Infrastructure Revolution’ which was organized by Business Hallmark said the infrastructure masterplan is for 2020-2043.
According to him, the infrastructure needed to be addressed include roads, railway network and maritime sector.
He said, “Conscious of the economic disruption caused by 2016 recession and COVID-19 as well as challenges of previous reforms, the Federal Government revised the 23 year (2020-2043) national integrated infrastructure masterplan that identified critical enablers.
“For the 23-year period, $2.3tn will be required, translating to about $150bn annually and the private sector and other partners have to provide 56 per cent, while Federal Government and state governments will provide 44 per cent of the share of the investment”.
Mustapha said the government has recorded important strides towards providing much of infrastructure and several infrastructural reforms.
The town hall meeting was chaired by the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
