248 Sailors on Board Drilling Ship, Offshore Barge Hit by Ravaging Cyclone in India
No fewer than 248 sailors are onboard a drilling ship, tug ship and a barge on the Indian waters where there is ravaging cyclone.
A drilling ship SAGAR BHUSHAN with 101 people on board were at midday Monday stuck.
The incident happened 30 nm NW of Mumbai since midday May 17, according to FleetMon online report..
The report said tug SANGITA with barge on tow, 10 people on board, was disabled.
Both ships were said to have been caught in cyclone Tauktae.
Similarly, offshore barge with 137 people on board was also adrift in the midst of cyclone

Indian Navy ship INS KOLKATA has been dispatched to render assistance, the report said.. .
In another report, TIMESNOW NEWS online reported that Cyclone Tauktae started making landfall on the coast of Gujarat on Monday night and the process continued for three hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.
Subsequently, it weakened to a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ as the wall cloud weakened. As per the Met department, it has now weakened further into a ‘severe cyclonic storm’.
Apart from Gujarat, the ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ has also forced the governments of Maharashtra, Kerala and Goa to issue alerts to its citizens in coastal areas and concerned authorities. Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu have also been on high alert.
Meanwhile, the Armed forces and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been carrying out evacuation operations and have put several teams on standby in cyclone-prone areas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Chief Ministers of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra, assuring them the Centre’s complete assistance in rescue operations and other relief measures…reports TIMESNEWSNOW.
