Insecurity: Lagos Hits Squatters, Demolishes Under Bridge Kiosks in Ijora

Lagos state government weekend demolished illegal kiosks constructed around under bridges in Ijora areas of Lagos.
The operation which took hours was many for security reasons as many had turned the kiosks as their homes and hideout.
Most affected were hundreds of commercial motorcyclists who chose to live under the bridges.
The demolished under bridge kiosks were described by many as den of criminals who rob people at night, particularly at odd hours.
One of the officials of the state government who spoke under anonymity said the demolition was for security reasons.
He said that the next would be to provide barbwire fencing round the affected areas to make it impossible for anybody to errect any form of structure.
It was gathered that the demolition exercise will continue in Tin Island Port this weekend.
Most of the illegal structures, it was gathered are homes to some commercial motorcyclists particularly those who cannot sleep in mosques
