We Need Export Processing Centre in Kogi – Shippers Association
The Association of Shippers in Kogi State has expressed the need for the federal government to establish an export processing centre in the state.
The association in a communique said this will add a lot value to agric commodities meant for export.
In a communique issued at the end of its meeting Leaders of Trades and Commodity Associations weekend in Lokoja, the association said the export centre will help in divrsifying the economy.
The communique which was signed by the body’s President, Mr
Habuh-Rajan Suleiman and the Secretary, Mr Donarus Okpe, identified Kogi state as having the potential like Lagos, Ogun, Abia and Kao state to be an industrialised and commercial-oriented state.
The communique called for the integration of the state into an export related businesses, adding that the collaboration between the government and the organised private sector was imperative.
The communique called for registration with the association, explaining that there was a lot of benefits.
The association also called on members who benefitted from loans given by Central Bank of Nigeria to endeavour to pay back in keeping with the terms of agreement.
“There are indications that the increasing army of defaulters may hinder prospective applicants from the state despite new and numerous opportunities in CBN”
