Coastal Cargo Ship Collides with Container Ship, Sinks
A container ship HAI LAN ZHONG GU 9 collided with coastal cargo ship HAOHANG No.XXX (length some 110 meters) near buoy 60 in Shizi Channel, upper channel of the Pearl River estuary.
The vessel was sailing downstream, at around 2200 Beijing time Apr 10.
Report by FleetMon showed that all 13 crew were rescued while the vessel sustained damages, but said to be insignificant.
The ship according to report was anchored near collision site with expected salvage under way to remove HAOHANG wreck.
As of 0520 UTC Apr 11, HAI LAN ZHONG GU 9 remained at anchor, she is en route from Dongguan, Guangzhou..reports FleetMon..
