NAF Promises to Unveil Cause of Jet Crash, Denies Claims by Boko Haram
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, Sunday said the cause of the crash of an Alpha-Jet aircraft will be made public as soon as investigation on the matter is concluded.
Amao however denied that the aircraft was shot down Boko Haram terrorists as being claimed.
In a statement by the NAF spokesman, Edward Gabkwet, he said “from critical analysis of all available intelligence, it was obvious that the air accident was caused by other factors soon to be unravelled.”
He said the crash should instead of discouraging NAF pilots, technicians and ground troos to be more resolute in the fight against insurgents in the North East and other parts of the country.
The NAF chief had visited the Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maiduguri, where he was briefed on the efforts being made to locate the missing aircraft.
On board the missing aircraft were Flt Lts. John Abolarinwa and Ebiakpo Chapele.
