We Are Progressing in Our Chapter Elections, Says ANLCA President
*Appeals to aggrieved members to sheath sword
* Declares ANLCA as transforming into body of professionals with proven integrity
The President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Iju Tony Nwabunike has said that the association has continued to make impressive progress in its chapter elections throughout the country.
Nwabunike in a statement said that the election was part of the agenda of the ANLCA leadership to reposition the association.
He said that the leadership of ANLCA in fulfilment of its mandate to reposition the Association, was poised to carry out all its statutory functions and responsibilities as enshrined in ANLCA ‘s Constitution as amended.
Nwabunike said such functions and powers of both the NEC and NECOM of ANLCA is to conduct credible elections into our various Chapters spread across the country to bring purposeful leadership to the Chapters of the association.
He said that the conduct of the chapter elections which started last year from the Northern zone, including Kano and Abuja International airports Chapters, has been so successful.
He added that on the 25th of January 2021, Association Electoral Commission (ASECO) moved to the Eastern zone of the association to conduct the Chapter elections into Onne port, Calabar port, Port Harcourt Area 1 , Onne Oil & Gas and the Port Harcourt International Airport Chapters.
According to him, the elections were successfully carried out with all members and contestants satisfied with the outcome.
He added, “ In the same vain, on the 16th, February 2021, elections were conducted into some Chapters of the Western Zone of ANLCA in the strict observance of the Covid-19 protocols in Lagos. The Chapters includes, Apapa Port, Tin Can Island Port, PTML , KLT and Ikorodu .
“At the end of the election the following candidates emerged as winners: Apapa Port Chapter–Chief Sylvester Budu , Chairman; Kayode Jejelaye, Vice Chairman; Razak Ishola, Secretary; and Lawrence Uba, Assistant Secretary.
“Others are Nnammocha Joseph, Financial Secretary; Hakeem Olodan, Treasurer; and Emeka Mbachu, Public Relations Officer (PRO).
“Tin Can Island Port Chapter–Ojo Peters Akintoye emerged as the Chairman; Sonniel Ebonyem Onochie, Vice Chairman; Nzeribe Ebere, Secretary; and Abdulazeez Obafemi Hakeem, Assistant Secretary. Others are Olawale Cole, Treasurer; Waisiu Bunmi Osinowo, Financial Secretary; and Onome A. Joy as Public Relations Officer ( PRO).
“The Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) elected Otunba Sunday Oyebola as their Chairman, Alhaji Lameen Muse as Vice Chairman, and Chijioke Daniel as Secretary. Also at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Esther Oluwatoyin Oyeleke was elected as Chairman, making her the first female Chapter chairman in the Western Zone of ANLCA. While the Ikorodu chapter of the association elected Prince Lawal Jimoh as their chairman”.
Nwabunike said that so far, efforts were being made by the ASECO to conduct credible elections into the remaining chapters of the Western Zone.
Nwabunike assured that under his watch as the National President of ANLCA, he will follow to the later the constitutional provisions of the association to make sure things are always done the right way.
He appealed to aggrieved brothers to sheath their swords and come onboard for us to build enviable and strong ANLCA for the benefit of us all.
He also assured the stakeholders that the association that the association “is transforming into an association of intellectual professionals with proven integrity that can stand among their peers across the globe”.
