FG Reduces Fuel Price by N5 to Pacify NLC
The federal government has slashed fuel price by N5 in what is aimed at pacifying the organised labour.
With the slash, fuel will now sell at N162.44 per litre with effect from Monday next week.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige told newsmen Monday that the reduction followed a fruitful meeting with members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Ngige said that the reduction was made possible by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) which is the major importer and marketers of petroleum products and customers agreed to bring down the price PMS by N5 next week.
He explained that the reduction does not mean suspending federal government’s deregulation policy.
On the demand for reduction of electricity tariff, both labour and Ministry of Labour officials will have to wait till January 25 for a special committee to conclude deliberations on the matter.
