The federal government is encouraging Nigerian car owners to change from using petrol for their vehicles with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Under the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) in Abuja, government will tomorrow flag off the programme with a target of one million vehicles.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the minister, Mr. Garba Muhammad, tomorrow’s event will include formal dispensing of autogas at two retail filling stations in Abuja.
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Hon Timpriye Silva said at least one million vehicles would have been converted by the end of 2021, adding that LPG gas will deliver cheap transportation.
According to Silva, “It is also in line with the government’s plan to make gas the first choice source of cheaper and cleaner energy for Nigerians in their personal and industrial endeavours.
“So, if you look at the price of petrol versus the price of gas and you think that gas is cheaper which of course, it is going to be cheaper. Gas will even be cheaper than petrol as it is today. So you see that we are also giving an alternative to ordinary Nigerians.’
