PENGASSAN had directed its members to begin strike on claim that the federal government breached the agreement on agreement on Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) implementation and redundancy in Baker Hughes.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary, Mr. Lumumba Okugbawa, Sunday night, the union the action followed failure of government to meet its demands after expiration of the seven day ultimatum.
According to the statement, “In view of the above and with the expiration of the ultimatum and subsequent extension, you are hereby advised to withdraw your services effective 12 midnight on Sunday, November 8, 2020.
“Please ensure that your branch members fully comply with this directive while you await further directive”.
The statement had urged zonal offices to monitor compliance and report to the union.
It would be recalled that PENGASSAN and NUPENG had suspended a warning strike they had embarked on over oil workers inclusion in the IPPIS.
