Apprehension as 20 Fire Tenders Battle Explosion at Oando Tank Farm in Apapa

There was palpable apprehension Thursday following an explosion at the Oando Plc tank farm which resulted into a heavy fire incident at the depot.
The fire incident which left many people injured had affected operations at the depot.
The fire outbreak had created fears over possible spread to other facilities around the deport considering that the depot has storage facility of 6,000 metric tonnes of petrol.
But about 20 fire fighting tankers were deployed to the scene to avert any spread to other tank farms.
Sources said the fire tenders were immediately deployed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), NIMASA, Total Plc, UBA and Mobil Plc.
It was also gathered that 12 other fire fighting vehicles were deployed to the facility.
LASEMA’s Director-General, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu told newsmen that the deployment of so many vehicles to the depot was to avert great danger.
