ICPC Discovers N2.67bn School Feeding Funds in Personal Accounts, N2.5bn in Deceased’s Account
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, on Monday said that the agency discovered the sum of N2.67 billion meant for school feeding of federal colleges in some personal accounts.
Owasanoye also that another sum of N2.5bn was also discovered by the agency in a deceased’s account.
Speaking at the 2nd National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in Abuja, he said the N2.67 billion was during the lockdown when children were not in school.
He also disclosed that the sum of N2.5bn was appropriated by a civil servant in the Ministry of Agriculture for himself and cronies.
Owasanoye said so far, his agency had recovered assets belonging to officials of the Agric Ministry.
He listed 18 buildings, 12 business premises and 25 plots of land as part of the assets recovered.
He also said, “We observed that transfers to sub-TSA were to prevent disbursement from being monitored. Nevertheless, we discovered payments to some federal colleges for school feeding in the sum of N2.67 billion during lockdown when the children are not in school, and some of the money ended up in personal accounts. We have commenced investigations into these findings.”
