NDDC Contracts: Akpabio Writes, N’Assembly, Withdraws Allegations Against Lawmakers
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has tactically withdrawn the allegations he leveled against members of the House of Representatives that they were beneficiaries of 60 percent of the contracts in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
This was contained in a letter submitted to the House by the Minister and read by the Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, during plenary session.
Akpabio’s latest move may not be unconnected with threat by the House to drag him to court for defaming the members on the NDDC contracts.
In the letter the Minister explained that the 60 percent contract he referred to was mainly on the nature of the projects and not contracts awarded to the legislators.
He had in the letter made passionate appeal to the Speaker to explain the content of the letter to the lawmakers apparently to avoid being dragged to court.
