NIMASA, NPA, Shippers Council CEOs Hold Historic Meeting
It was a historic meeting Wednesday as the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the three major agencies in the maritime industry under the Ministry of Transport held an inaugural meeting in Lagos.
The three agencies include the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
The meeting is the first of its kind in recent times.
The meeting which was held at the NSC headquarters was attended by the Director General, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, MD, NPA, Ms. Hadiza Usman Bala and the host the Executive Secretary, NSC. Mr Hassan Bello.
Industry stakeholders believe that the meeting may have been on how to ensure an efficient port system at a time that the industry is faced with a lot of problems, including congestion.
It was gathered that the CEOs have agreed to be holding such meetings once in a while during which they can address issues in the maritime industry.
