The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has been suspended from office pending the outcome of the investigation by the Justice Ayo Salami Presidential Panel against him.
Magu is spending his second day in detention as he was not allowed to go back to office after being summoned by the Committee on Monday.
Punch Newspaper reports that President Buhari had suspended the Acting EFCC chairman before the Presidential Panel sitting on Tuesday.
His suspension, according to the Punch report was to allow the Panel do its job without interference.
Magu was on Monday summoned to the Presidential Villa to face the Panel.
The investigation against Magu is based on allegations that he is living above his means, diversion of recovered funds and fraternizing with corrupt persons.
It was also reported that the allegation against Magu may not be unconnected with the report by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and that of the Department of State Services.
