FG Approves N1.66bn for Design of Second Abuja
The federal government has approved the sum of N1.66bn for the design of the second Abuja Airport.
The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja said the approved received during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) was for consultancy services for the design of the airport.
Sirika said a consortium of two international consultants and a Nigerian firm are to handle the design.
He said with the approval, the process will be fast-tracked so that the construction can be completed before the year ends.
He said, “What I want to assure the public is that a lot of work has been done in this procurement of consultancy services. It will be fast-tracked and it is the intention of the ministry to conclude before the end of the year, so that the balance of money that we have in the budget, we can appoint a contractor and commence the construction of the second runway.
“We hope to conclude the second runway if awarded before the end of the life of this administration.”
