CBN Governor Tasks Industrialists on Economy, Says No Support for Importers
The Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Tuesday called on industrialists to assist the federal government in rebuilding the nation’s economy.
Emefiele also said the apex bank has no plans to support importers who bring in goods that can be produced in Nigeria as a way of saving the scarce foreign exchange.
In a statement from the apex bank, the governor who spoke during a virtual meeting with chief executive officers of conglomerates said emphasis should be on what could boost the national economy and create jobs for Nigerians.
He disclosed that the present plan of the CBN was to ensure that the economy returns to what it used to be in which manufacturing and agricultural sectors were the base.
He also said this was in line with the policy of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
