Face Masks in Public Becomes Mandatory in Lagos as Nigeria Records 38 New Cases

The Lagos State government will from next week make wearing of face masks compulsory for all Lagosians in public.
This was as the number of COVID-19 in Nigeria recorded 38 new cases.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday said the state has contract tailors who will prepare one million face masks, adding that they will be distributed during the week.
He however urged Lagosians not to panic, adding that 14 deaths have so far been recorded since the pandemic started.
The governor disclosed that two more isolation centres have been created at Landmark Centre and Gbagada, and urged those who have the symptoms of the virus to go for test.
“We have seen that people that are suspected to have the virus have declined to present themselves or go into private hospitals. The isolation centres are not death centres.
“From next week, we are going to be enforcing wearing of face mask in public places. Over a million has been commissioned to tailors and will be distributed during the week. It’s important we do not panic. This pandemic will be over and sizeable number of our people will get well.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 38 new cases of COVID-19 out of which 23 cases were recorded in Kano, Gombe- 5, Kaduna – 3, Borno – 2m Abia – 2, FCT Abuja – 1, Sokoto – 1and Ekiti -1.
So far Nigeria has recorded a total of 665 cases with Lagos leading with 376 cases.
188 have been discharged while 22 deaths recorded.
