COVID-19: Buhari Orders Sharing of 150 Trucks of Seized Rice to 36 States
The 150 trucks of rice seized by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) will now be distributed to 36 states of the federation on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The directive was disclosed Monday by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed during a press conference in Abuja.
Ahmed disclosed that already the seized rice had been handed over to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for distribution to states.
The Minister also said that the President had equally ordered that grains from reserves be distributed to the states.
She added that the President also approved the recruitment of 1,000 people from each of the 774 local governments in the country to be part of the Special Public Works programme in the efforts to check the effects of Coronavirus.
She also disclosed that N60billion has been budgeted as allowances and operational costs from the COVID intervention fund.
