AP Moller’s MD Becomes Casualty of Apapa Port Congestion, Sacked for Inefficiency?
The Managing Director of AP Moller Terminals (APMT), Mr. Martin Jacob, may have become one of the casualties of the Apapa port congestion.
THISDAY Newspaper reported that Jacob has been fired by AP Moller’s parent company in The Hague, Netherlands.
Jacob is to be replaced by Mr. Klaus Laursen, the Managing Director of APMT’s Poti Sea Port Corporation, in Georgia.
His sack according to the report was as a result of his failure to address the issue of congestion in his terminal and environment.
The report equally said that the sack of Jacob was to ensure that the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) does not take over the company after the expiration of a 30-day ultimatum given to APMT to address inefficiency in its terminal.
APMT’s inefficiency in the terminal is said to be the reason for the port congestion and gridlock in Apapa.
