Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has charged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to enforce compliance on the objectives of Ease of Doing Business among relevant stakeholders in the country.
In a statement by the ICPC spokesman, Mrs. Rasheedat Okoduwa, the anti-corruption agency received the order on the occasion of the presentation of interim report on Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business intervention by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
The Vice President was said to have expressed disapproval over reports alleging corrupt practices by some agencies of government.
The VP said such corrupt practices have been a clog in the wheel of progress of Ease-of-Doing-Business objectives.
The statement said the ICPC was expected to deal with issues of corrupt practices affecting the image of the country at her airports, seaports and border stations.
The ICPC Chairman, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, said his agency has been able to conduct ethics compliance evaluation of many MDAs.
Owasanoye was quoted saying,“These collaborations include that with the National Orientation Agency on the constituency project tracking initiative, the National Social Investment Office on the Social Investment programmes comprising school feeding, conditional cash transfer, N-Power and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) of Trader Moni and Market Moni”.
