Blame Border Closure on Failure of Customs Service, Says Ijewere
The Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) has said that Nigerians should understand that the closure of the nation’s land borders was simply failure of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to do their statutory responsibilities.
Vice President of the Group, Mr Emmanuel Ijewere, said it was complete lack of confidence on the part of the Customs Service.
Speaking during the agric expo in Lagos, he said that though Nigerian farmers are capable of producing enough food for Nigerians, the problem has been that they lose as a result of post harvest management.
Stakeholders had on the occasion said that with the closure of the border, there was the need for farmers to produce enough food for consumption and export.
