Customs Sets N2trillion Revenue Target for 2020
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a revenue target of N2trillion for the year.
This was disclosed by the Public Relations Officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tony Orilade at a function on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
Orilade quoted the Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt, Comptroller M. B Boyi, as having made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Head of the EFFCC Port Harcourt Zonal, Mr. Usman Imam.
According to the EFCC image maker, the Comptroller General of Customs. Rtd Col Hammed Ali was the one who set the N2trillion target for the Service.
He disclosed that the federal government had on its own set a revenue target of N1.5trillion for the Service before the customs boss raised it to N2trillion.
It would be recalled that the Service had last year generated N1.3trillion revenue.
The PH Customs Controller had visited the EFCC to seek collaboration between the two agencies.
He had requested the EFCC to assist the Service in its efforts to meet the revenue target for the year.
The recalled that the Customs had assisted the EFCC to combat money laundering in the past.
