The Lagos State Government on Monday began strong moves to enforce the ban on operation of some commercial motorcycles and tricycles on major roads in the state.

Following this, a good number of motorcycles and tricycles were impounded and taken to Alausa, Ikeja.
Affected in the restriction order include “Opay ride, Gokada ride” and others which are being forced to obey the traffic law introduced in 2012 to sanitise the road transport in the state.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso and his counterparts from the Ministry of Transportation, Attorney-General and Justice, Frederic Oladeinde and Moyosore Onigbanjo at a press conference announced strict enforcement.
Omotosho said that the enforcement is beginning with three six local governments under a pilot stage before being extended to other places.
He explained that the measure was to check the issue of disregard to traffic laws in the state.
