President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the deployment of fighter jets to combat all acts of terrorism in Niger state.
This is following increased activities of bandits who have either kidnapped or killed innocent people.
The bandits are said to be attacking people in remote communities.
In a statement by the presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari is angry over the development and has authorized air raid.
The air raid is to support troops and policemen that have been deployed on ground to the areas.
The bandits are said to be operating in the forests from where they strike.
The statement reads: “In line with this directive, the Nigerian Air Force is setting up refueling facilities at Minna, Niger State to support the aircraft operations, giving assurances that given the improved weather conditions, a major exercise to ‘visually acquire targets’ and launch attacks will soon follow.”
