Lagos Lawmakers Accuse Dangote Trucks of Damaging Lagos Roads, Demand Support from Group
Legislators of the Lagos State House of Assembly Monday accused trucks belonging to the Dangote Group of damaging roads in the state.
The legislators in a motion moved by the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure Hon Abiodun Tobun said following this development, Dangote Group of Company should as part of its social responsibility support the state government in the repair of some of the roads.
The House had also called on the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to call contractors handling state projects to order by ensuring that they are not paid until they meet all necessary conditions.
Tobun said, “The House is concerned that after most of the roads are repaired, heavy duty vehicles ply the road without regard for the damage done to the roads.
“We should urge Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to ensure that contractors are not paid mobilisation fee unless they are ready for the work.
“The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure should also ensure that only contractors with requisite experience are given the job to do.”
