Orji : Border Closure is Boosting Aba Made Products
Manufacturers in Abia State are currently smiling to the banks following the closure of the nation’s borders.
The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon, Chinedum Orji who disclosed this said it was because products from the state are now selling like hot cake as a result of the border closure.
Orji who commended the federal government on the closure said the measure has been promoting Nigerian products.
According to him, the policy has forced many Nigerians to look inwards instead of having to rely on foreign products.
Orji spoke when he received the Director General of Abia State Marketing and Quality Management Agency (AMQMA), Barr Sam Hart and his management team visited him in his office.
Orji described Aba made products as of very high quality and have been helping in promoting the entrepreneurial development of the people of the state.
He said the border closure has helped entrepreneurs and farmers from the state to expand their markets.
He said Nigerians are beginning to appreciate local made products and said this was the way to move forward.
He said, “Nobody should buy any foreign rice. Gone are the days when people used it as a status symbol. I have since banned the eating of foreign rice in my house. Anyone offering you foreign rice at this time is not doing you well. Patronize locally produced goods. Patronize Abia rice”.
