World Bank Investments in Nigeria Now Stand at $11bn
World Bank investments in Nigeria in terms of net portfolio commitment have now risen to $11 billion, the Bank’s Country Director for Nigeria, Mr. Rachid Benmessaoud said Thursday.
Benmessaoud said there are 30 operational projects in all
the states in the country.
Speaking on the occasion of Nigeria Portfolio Performance Awards organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Country Director said the projects cover health, education, agriculture, social protection, energy, infrastructure and governance.
Benmessaoud talked of the partnership strategy which has been in the area economic reform plan of the government, which is the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
He assured that the Bank will continue to partner with Nigeria “until we see sustained development in all aspects of the socio-economic environment of Nigeria.”
He called for investment in human capital as critical to help Nigeria address its development objectives.
