Buhari Expresses Sadness over Apapa Gridlock
President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday expressed concerns over the lingering Apapa gridlock and the hardship it has brought to many residents and businesses.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Buhari however assured every effort is being made to end the problem.
He said, “I must admit the Apapa gridlock still remains a challenge. It saddens me that businesses have had to suffer as a result of this.
“We are doing our very best working with the Lagos State Government to bring an end to this issue.”
Buhari told the LCCI executive led by the Chairman, Mr Babatunde Ruwase, that the federal government has invested in the areas of infrastructure development and supported the business environment.
He also added that the government has encouraged development banks to provide loans to traders and small enterprises.
On the African Continental Free Trade Agreement which was signed recently, the President and the LCCI executive agreed that there were pros and cons for Nigeria.
The President however said the consultative approach taken by Nigeria on the Free Trade Agreement was based on the desire for sustainable and inclusive growth.
