The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Mr Hassan Bello, has said that the $500million Ibadan Dry Port project when completed will be distinct from what Nigerians find in the present seaports in Lagos.
Bello said the dry port facility will be modernized in such a way to eliminate the mistakes made in the past in constructing seaports in Nigeria.
The NSC CEO had said that the agreement for the construction of the dry port project will be signed this month August.
Speaking in Lagos on the occasion of the 2nd Transport Leadership Lecture with the theme “Leadership In A “Next Level” Democracy: Striking A Positive Balance In Transport Sector’ organized by Kings Communication, he said the agreement for the project which is under Public Private Partnership (PPP) will be signed in the second week of August.
Bello disclosed that the project was won by a foreign firm after it was advertised.
He also said that the Oyo State Government, the Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC), the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) have stakes in the project.
Bello said, “Shipping is coming to the hinterland, we are going to sign Ibadan Dry port in August, 500 million Dollar facility which is going to be modern and we have to make it distinct and remove what is happening at the seaport. We have to have modern dry port”.
