Boko Haram Ambush, Kill Two Colonels, Captain, 26 Soldiers in Yobe, Borno
It was a big blow to the Nigerian Army as Boko Haram insurgents have killed two colonels, captain and 26 others in an ambush.
The soldiers were killed in Borno and Yobe states.
A Commander who is of the rank of a colonel , 20 soldiers were killed in an ambush in Yobe, while another Colonel, Captain, and six others were also killed in Borno state.
The soldiers who were killed in Yobe state were on their way to the headquarters of 29 Task Force Brigade of the Nigerian Army at Benisheik, according to sources.
It was gathered that the soldiers were killed as they ran to the bush for cover.
In the case of Borno attack, the Army Colonel and a captain, driver, four other soldiers were killed on the Damaturu/Maiduguri highway.
They were said to have ran into some insurgents who were fleeing after a heavy gun battle with soldiers at Jakana.
The Senate had Thursday expressed worry over the security situation in the North, saying it is creating humanitarian crisis in the North.
The death toll of soldiers who have lost their lives in the past two months is put at 52.
