Apapa Customs Collects N203bn Revenue in Six Months, Meets 54.5% of Annual Target
The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Tuesday announced a revenue collection of N203.2billion between January and June this year.
The figure represents 54.5% of its target for the year with a monthly target of N31bn and annual target of N372.5bn.
The six months revenue figure for this year shows N26,507,298,510.24bn higher than the figure for the same period last year which was N176,756,756,145.55bn.
The Area Controller , Muhammed Abba-Kura, told newsmen that the success recorded was due to adherence to professionalism on the part of the officers of the Command.
He said that there has been a lot of sensitization on the officers and other stakeholders on the need to be compliant to trade regulations.
On export trade, Kura said the Command recorded 95,229.15 metric tons of exports which Free on Board ( FOB) value was put at $46,613,453.75million (N14.2bn).
According to him, most of the export products were agricultural and mineral products.
He disclosed that 29 containers of different goods, including tramadol, tomatoe paste, vegetable oil, ladies footwear and armoured glasses without end user certificate were seized for contravening import regulations.
The Duty Paid Value of the seized items was put at N418,437,048m.
